Reiki
A Quiet Space for Rest, Balance, and Healing
Reiki creates an opportunity to become still, rest more deeply, and receive support without having to perform, explain everything, or arrive in any particular state of mind.
What Is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese energy practice commonly used to support stress reduction, relaxation, balance, and healing. The International Center for Reiki Training describes Reiki as “a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.” It is offered through gentle touch or with the practitioner’s hands held slightly above the body and does not require needles, pressure, physical manipulation, or the removal of clothing.
Within the Reiki tradition, Reiki is associated with the idea of spiritually guided life energy. Related concepts of life energy appear in many traditions: ki in Japanese practices, qi or chi in Chinese traditions, and prana in Indian traditions. Acupuncture, qigong, pranayama, and Reiki engage these concepts through different methods. Reiki does not use acupuncture needles or require the selection or stimulation of specific meridian points.
Reiki is also offered in some hospitals, cancer-support programs, nursing environments, hospice and palliative-care settings, and integrative or whole-health programs. Some nurses and other healthcare professionals pursue Reiki training as part of a broader interest in complementary and holistic care.
Its presence in healthcare environments does not make Reiki a replacement for medical treatment. Rather, it reflects a willingness to include supportive practices that attend to relaxation, comfort, emotional and spiritual well-being, and the whole-person experience of care.
Reasons People May Seek Reiki
People come to Reiki for many reasons. Some are seeking relaxation or relief from the pace and pressure of daily life. Others come simply because they want protected time for themselves—a quiet hour away from responsibilities, demands, and constant attention to other people.
In that sense, someone may schedule Reiki for a reason similar to scheduling a massage or another restorative appointment, even though Reiki is a distinctly different practice.
Others may be moving through grief, change, illness, recovery, emotional strain, spiritual transition, or a period of feeling disconnected from themselves. Reiki may also be received as part of ongoing personal care, spiritual practice, and well-being.

Reiki Services & Pricing
Reiki Session
60 minutes | $120
A complete appointment including a brief opening check-in, time to settle, the Reiki itself, and a short closing afterward. Reiki may be offered through light touch or with the practitioner’s hands held slightly above the body, according to your comfort and consent.
Extended Reiki Session

Three-Session Reiki Series
Three 60-minute sessions | $330
Three complete Reiki appointments for those who would like supportive continuity rather than a single visit.
Paid in full when booked. Complete within 90 days of the first session. Standard cancellation policy applies; one courtesy cancellation waiver may be available.
Long-Distance Reiki
60 minutes | $110
Reiki offered while you remain in your own comfortable location. The appointment includes a brief opening conversation, time to settle, the scheduled Reiki, and a short conversation afterward to reconnect and close.
What to Expect During an In-Person Session
Your appointment begins with a brief check-in about how you are arriving, what has brought you to Reiki, and any preferences concerning touch, positioning, or comfort. You remain fully clothed and may ordinarily rest on a treatment table, although seated or otherwise adapted positioning may be available when needed.
Reiki may be offered through gentle, respectful touch or with the practitioner’s hands held slightly above the body. Your preferences are discussed beforehand, and you may change them or ask to pause or stop at any time. Soft music may be played, and pillows or a blanket may be used to help you settle comfortably.
People experience Reiki differently. You may notice warmth, coolness, tingling, heaviness, lightness, emotion, mental quiet, or deep relaxation. Some people describe a feeling of floating, drifting, or expanding beyond their usual awareness of the body.
With their eyes closed, some notice colors, light, patterns, images, memories, or fluid, dreamlike sequences of thought—an experience more like moving gently between waking awareness and dreaming. You may remain fully awake, drift into sleep, or simply experience a period of rest without any distinct sensations. No particular response is required, and no individual sensation is presented as proof of a specific result.
The appointment closes gradually, with time to become fully present again and briefly reflect on the experience. The stated appointment length includes the opening check-in, the Reiki itself, and the closing afterward.
Preparing and Personalizing Your Session
Preparing for a Long-Distance Session
Long-Distance Reiki is a scheduled, synchronous appointment rather than Reiki sent at an unspecified time. The 60-minute appointment includes an opening conversation, time to settle, the agreed Reiki period, and a closing conversation.
Choose a quiet, comfortable place where you can rest without needing to drive, work, or attend to other responsibilities. Silence unnecessary ringers and notifications, and let other people in the space know that you would prefer not to be interrupted.
You may use pillows, a blanket, soft lighting, and your own quiet music—or simply rest in silence.
The telephone or video connection does not ordinarily need to remain open throughout the Reiki unless another arrangement has been made.
Supportive Elements Within a Session
Reiki remains the central practice. Depending upon the setting, the purpose of the appointment, and your preferences, I may also incorporate supportive elements such as:
Gentle grounding, breath awareness, or simple guided breathing
Quiet background music or periods of silence
Gentle use of bells, chimes, singing bowls, or other percussion instruments
Brief guided attention, visualization, or imagery
An ambient natural scent from incense or an essential oil
These elements are not required for Reiki and are not used automatically. Sound, scent, breath practices, guided imagery, and other supportive elements are introduced with care and may always be declined.
Essential oils are not applied to the body. Any scent is used only in the room’s atmosphere and only when appropriate for the location and your comfort, allergies, respiratory sensitivities, and preferences.
Training & Approach
My Reiki background spans more than one period and system of formal training. Earlier in my practice, I completed Usui Reiki Levels I, II, and III and Reiki Master Teacher training.
More recently, I completed Holy Fire® III Karuna Reiki® Master Teacher training within the International Center for Reiki Training system. I am also an Affiliate Member of the Reiki Membership Association.
Reiki traditions are learned through structured instruction, practice, and methods of energetic initiation or transmission. Depending upon the system, these may include attunements, placements, experiences, or ignitions. The practitioner has a responsibility to understand the methods received, practice within the scope of their training, and approach the work with care, ethics, consent, and respect.
Clients are not asked to choose between Reiki systems. Public appointments are simply offered as Reiki, informed by my training, experience, and the needs of the person in front of me.
As the person receiving Reiki, you do not need to make anything happen or perform the experience correctly. You may rest, remain quietly aware, drift into sleep, notice changing sensations or imagery, or simply experience a period of stillness.
My approach is calm, respectful, and non-demanding. The intention is to create a supportive space in which you can settle, receive, and reconnect with yourself.
Appointments & Before You Book
Appointment Locations
Standard in-person Reiki appointments are offered at selected wellness locations on the South Shore. Available locations and appointment times are confirmed when scheduling. Long-Distance Reiki is also available.
Before You Book
Payment is required before the appointment.
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice when cancelling or rescheduling.
Late arrival may shorten the available appointment time.
Missed appointments and late cancellations are handled according to the complete Client Policies and Practice Guidelines. One courtesy cancellation waiver may be available.
Complementary Care
Reiki is complementary and supportive in nature. It does not diagnose illness or replace medical treatment, mental-health care, prescribed medication, emergency services, physical rehabilitation, or advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
You do not need to discontinue or delay appropriate care in order to receive Reiki. Reiki may be offered alongside conventional care as an additional space for rest, comfort, reflection, and support.
Animal Reiki
Animals often respond naturally to calm presence and compassionate energy. Animal Reiki offers a quiet, non-demanding form of support that respects each animal’s signals, comfort, willingness, and individual way of responding.
Reiki may be offered through light touch, with the hands held slightly away from the body, or from a greater distance. The animal is free to approach, move away, change position, rest, or return. The session follows the animal rather than requiring the animal to accommodate a fixed sequence of hand positions.
Animal Reiki Services & Pricing
Companion-Animal Reiki
60-minute complete visit | $100
Available for dogs, cats, and other household animals in an appropriate home or familiar setting. The visit is shaped around the animal’s temperament, mobility, comfort, environment, and willingness to engage.
Equine & Large-Animal Reiki
60-minute complete visit | $125
May take place in a stall, barn aisle, paddock, arena, or another setting that is safe and appropriate. The session may begin from several feet away and develop according to the animal’s response.
Barn Reiki Day
Three or more horses | $110 per horse
Each horse receives a separately scheduled, private appointment. Three or more horses must be scheduled consecutively at the same barn on the same visit day. These are horse-centered appointments—not demonstrations or spectator clinics.
Long-Distance Animal Reiki
Up to 45 minutes | $75
May be considered when an in-person visit is not practical or when distance appears more appropriate for the particular animal.
Available by individual arrangement rather than presented as the primary option for every animal.
What an Animal Reiki Visit Includes
The Visit
The 60-minute visit includes time to speak with the animal’s person, observe and approach the animal respectfully, offer Reiki according to the animal’s comfort and willingness, and briefly close afterward.
Animals are never expected to remain still or receive Reiki continuously for the full appointment. They may move around, lie down, stand nearby, approach, create distance, or return during the visit. Space and distance can be part of the Reiki experience.
Experience With Animals
Drawing upon a lifetime of working with animals—including formal education in Equine Industries and Animal Science, professional experience in animal science and biotechnology, and many years of offering Reiki to companion animals and horses—I approach each animal with patience, careful observation, and respect for personal space.
Equine Reiki & Barn Reiki Days
Horse-Centered Experience
Working respectfully with a horse requires continual attention to the whole animal and the surrounding environment. Body language, personal space, safe positioning, footing, gates, fencing, other animals, weather, barn activity, and the horse’s freedom to move all shape the appointment.
Equine Reiki is offered with respect for the horse’s size, strength, sensitivity, history, and individual way of communicating. Careful attention is given to safe, horse-centered interaction throughout the visit.
Barn Reiki Days
When several horses at the same barn would benefit from individual Reiki visits, a Barn Reiki Day may be arranged. Each horse receives a separately scheduled appointment, with the horse’s person present as appropriate.
These are private, horse-centered appointments rather than demonstrations or spectator clinics.
Reduced multi-horse pricing is available when three or more horses are scheduled consecutively at the same barn on the same visit day. One travel fee applies to the location and may be shared among participating clients.
Support During Transition or From a Distance
Adopted, Rescued & Rehomed Animals
Newly adopted, rescued, or rehomed animals may arrive carrying learned vigilance, nervousness, or uncertainty from earlier experiences. In my experience, Reiki can offer a quiet, non-demanding form of support that helps some animals settle, become less reactive, and begin relating to their new people and surroundings with greater ease.
Reiki does not erase an animal’s history or replace veterinary or qualified behavioral care, but it may support relaxation, trust, and adjustment during periods of transition.
Long-Distance Animal Reiki
Long-Distance Animal Reiki may be considered when an in-person visit is not practical or when distance appears more appropriate for the particular animal.
The appointment includes time to speak with the animal’s person, offer Reiki while the animal remains in its own comfortable environment, and briefly reconnect afterward. The animal does not need to remain still, stay in one particular room, or visibly respond in any prescribed way.
Long-Distance Animal Reiki is available by individual arrangement rather than presented as the primary option for every animal.
Travel, Booking & Veterinary Care
Travel & Booking
In-person Animal Reiki is available at the animal’s home, barn, or another appropriate location.
A distance-based travel fee helps account for the time and mileage involved in traveling to the animal’s location. The fee is confirmed before booking and generally ranges from $25–$80, based on the one-way driving distance from Brockton.
One total travel fee applies per location on the same visit day. The fee is not doubled for the return trip and may be shared when multiple animals are scheduled at the same location.
Any known access, handling, or safety considerations for an equine or large-animal visit are also reviewed in advance.
Veterinary & Behavioral Care
Reiki is a complementary practice and does not replace veterinary care, emergency care, prescribed treatment, rehabilitation, training, or qualified behavioral support.
Animal Reiki does not diagnose illness, determine the cause of symptoms, or promise a particular physical or behavioral outcome. Concerns about an animal’s health, pain, mobility, safety, or behavior should be addressed with the appropriate veterinarian or qualified animal professional.
Reiki may be offered alongside appropriate veterinary and behavioral care as a respectful form of support for relaxation, comfort, trust, adjustment, and overall well-being.
Questions & Scheduling
If you are considering Reiki for yourself or an animal, you are welcome to ask questions about the work, appointment options, location, travel, or whether a particular service may be appropriate.
